"It is a happy talent to know how to play." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is all too easy to ignore the importance of adding moments of play and lightness. Join MCMS faculty member and flutist Erin Dubois in a program inspired by the idea of what it means to include play and joy in classical music. Hear the flute as you've never heard it before featuring the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, beatboxing, and of children coloring. The evening will include music by Robert Dick, Ian Clarke, Greg Patillo, Yuko Uebeyashi, and Telemann.
Program:
Robert Dick: Fish Are Jumping
Ian Clarke: Touching the Ether
Yuko Uebeyashi: Sonate for Flute & Piano
Telemann: Fantasie No. 6
Allison Loggins-Hull: Color Wheels
Greg Patillo: Three Beats for Beatbox Flute Movement 1
